Background

Diazolidinylurea (Germall 11) is broad-spectrum preservative used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. It is especially active against gram-negative bacteria and is often combined with parabens.
Diazolidinylurea is the newest and most active member of the imidazolidinyl urea group. It has been used since 1982. Diazolidinylurea may be a stronger sensitizer than imidazolidinyl urea.
