Background
Melamine formaldehyde is a textile resin of the formaldehyde releasing
type. It is added to textiles provide wrinkle-resistance. It is considered
to be a high releaser of formaldehdye (> 1000 ppm of formaldehyde per gram
of fabric). It is used in 20% of durable-press fabrics in the United States.
