Background

Diphenylmethane-4,4-diisocyanate (MDI) is a raw material in polyurethane resins. The polyurethanes are of the thermosetting type of plastic and the polymerization is a polyaddition reaction. Diphenylmethane-4,4-diisocyanateis industrially used as crude MDI, which is a mixture of 4,4´-MDI with 2,4´-MDI and 2,2´-MDI. Crude MDI is aslo name polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate.
